For 38 years, El Dorado has been the host community for a turkey hunt each April during the opening weekend of the spring turkey season. In 2022, the Governor's Hunt decided to dissolve their organization. Due to numerous requests to continue the tradition, a few individuals formed a new organization, and their first hunt took place in 2023. Former Governor Mike Hayden helped get this hunt off the ground and has suggested we capture stories of the many years of people coming to El Dorado to hunt turkey.
